A consortium led by Shell is to drill an exploration well costing up to $70 million offshore of Taranki: If successful the Ruru prospect could extend the life of the ageing Maui field. Shell Todd Oil Services said yesterday that the Noble Discoverer drilling ship was on its way from Singapore to drill the exploration well. The prospect is on the Southern reaches of the Maui exploration licence, straddling another licence held by the same owners. It sits about 15 kilometres from both the existing Maui platforms in 100 metres of water around 40km from the Taranaki coast. The exploration and the injection of capital of this magnitude must be exciting, helping to secure for the future of business's in the Taranaki province.
The Taranaki region produced 19.6 million barrels of oil in 2009 & 180 petajoules of gas, according to the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand.
Now is the time to enquire about motels McCrae Real Estate have listed in the Taranaki province.
